Terms and Conditions
Terms
Use of: http://www.epictrails.org
This policy is valid from January 1, 2018. When in doubt, please refer back to the “howevers”.
Reading all my information on epictrails.org is of your own free will. However, if you object to these Terms and Conditions, I suggest you click the X at the upper right hand corner and stop using this website. If you find this site useful, please continue reading at your leisure.
Of course, I can modify these Terms and Conditions at any time, but it is unlikely. However, please check back here often to ensure you have the most current information available.
Even though I do a lot of research to provide the most recent information, I make every attempt to verify research through official websites that are available at the time of publishing. However, I make no representations or warranties of any kind (expressed or implied) about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability or availability of any information, products, services or related images available at epictrails.org. Basically, stuff happens and an official website can suddenly experience error messages for no apparent reason other than the company decided to stop operations from one day to the next. If you need to verify information in a foreign country, I suggest you download Skype, add credit to your account, start calling directly and ask to speak to someone in English. Always say please and thank you (or Merci or Gracias) when asking questions. If you booked an activity, request a confirmation email. You can also scan all your reservations and confirmations before you leave home and save them to your phone.
I advise you to verify road or highway closures, opening times, especially seasonal openings, entrance fees and phone numbers before planning itineraries, trips and/or weekend getaways. Otherwise, you may find yourself stranded on a blocked road due to a mudslide or in my case, trains and planes canceled due to a national strike. Further, even unplanned activities such civil unrest or protesting may interrupt or delay your vacation in some form or another.
My goal is to share my own personal and accurate experiences with you at the time I hit that “Publish” button. However, as time passes, there may be more updated information elsewhere. You are welcome to inform me of any errors and I will do my best to make corrections at my next possible opportunity.
Copyright Policy
All the photos on this website are from our travels. Unless otherwise noted, I (Cristina Hagerty of Epic Trails) am the legal copyright holder of all (written, multimedia and graphic) material on this website and it may not be used, reprinted, (partially) modified or published without my written consent. A link to epictrails.org must appear in all copies of my images or content, including articles and tweets.
By the way, I am not responsible for any items that I have tweeted where those links contain errors or inaccuracies as I cannot control what those particular authors post or modify after I have already retweeted them. However, you can inform me of any errors and I will attempt to verify and/or untweet them.
Further, if you see an image that you wish to purchase, please inform me and I will add the full size image to 500px for licensing, purchasing, etc.
Hold Harmless
All the information provided on epictrails.org is for general information and entertainment purposes only and is the expressed opinion of myself, Cristina Hagerty and not others. Ok, maybe my husband’s or son’s opinion may be included somewhere. If this offends you, please notify me.
I am not providing any advice whatsoever as this is merely for entertainment purposes. You are taking all the provided information on epictrails.org at your own risk. Under no circumstances will I be liable for any loss or damage (including without limitation indirect or consequential loss or damage) or any loss or damage whatsoever arising from you not verifying information or doing your own research.
For example, some national parks in foreign countries take credit cards for their entrance fees, while the same national park system in another area only takes euros or pesos. In Spanish, this is called “en effectivo”. While we were in Ireland, the credit card system was down for the entire day wherever we stopped so we ended up using a lot of our euros. Some countries also charge 10% more if you use a credit card. Be prepared and avoid any misunderstandings by carrying enough cash for a few days and/or do your own research.
If for any reason my website is down due to technical difficulties by the web host, you can send me a tweet @CAHagerty with any question or idea or correction.
Privacy Statement
Any personal and/or contact information provided to me will be kept private. However, you may have a general question that is not of a personal nature and in that situation, I may tweet the question (not the author) to share with others. Please specify whether you want your question kept confidential.
Reserve Rights
I, Cristina Hagerty of Epic Trails, reserve the right to modify this website or change page locations, etc. I may shut it down at my own discretion if I can’t keep it up anymore, decide to volunteer my time elsewhere or if I notice any illegal or unethical activity associated with the website.
Advertisers and Sponsors
I don’t advertise and I don’t plan to advertise or have sponsors. However, there may come a time where I may consider the next level. When that time comes, I won’t be responsible for advertiser or sponsor actions. If you purchase an item or service based on my experiences detailed on epictrails.org, you need to take action with that particular company to resolve any issues, not with me. Before I make a decision, I verify reviews on Tripadvisor or Yelp or Google. You can too.
Safety
When you travel, expect and anticipate the unexpected and the unanticipated. Yours and your family’s safety is #1, a priority. However, don’t blame others for poor planning or failing to follow through. Do your own research, take an extra credit card or debit card in case it gets lost or stolen, keep a photocopy of your credit cards and passport with you, at home and with a family member. Know where the embassies are in each country you’re visiting and enjoy your own epic trails.
