Route 66, St. Louis, Missouri to Holbrook, Arizona
Prior to arriving in St. Louis, Missouri, we discovered the site of President Lincoln's first official protest against slavery at Vandalia, Illinois on March 3, 1837. The Capitol at Vandalia was built in 1836 and served as the official Capitol Building of Illinois until 1839. This is where Abraham Lincoln started his political career. Continuing about 70 miles west, we arrived in St. Louis and made our first stop at the popular Ted Drewe's Custard. This was our first time tasting custard ice cream and we loved it! We continued on our journey stopping at various sites along Route 66. |
